My name is Mark, and I’m excited to introduce myself as the new Digital Marketing Assistant here at Arise Sheffield.
It’s my job to make sure you know what’s happening through the Arise Sheffield website, social media and much much more.
Last week, I had the privilege of attending my first Arise:Hallow Launch and I wanted to share some of my reflections from the evening with you. It was such a blessing to gather with Christians from all across Sheffield and I was deeply encouraged by the sense of unity in the room.
Here are a few of my highlights from the evening;
💥 The Creative Community Choir led us in powerful worship, which really set the tone for the night. There was such a strong feeling of togetherness as we lifted our voices in praise, and it reminded me of the beauty of coming together as one family in Christ.
💥 We had the chance to hear from a fantastic panel. First, Emily and Lotta shared their experience handing out Bags of Hope last year. It was amazing to hear how they ran out and had to keep making more because so many people kept coming.
💥 Next, Viki encouraged us all to get creative by decorating our windows and homes to be a light in our neighbourhoods through taking part in Streets of Light. I loved hearing about such a practical way we can get involved in spreading the light of Jesus with those in our communities.
💥 Adam then got us thinking about how we can “wear and share” our faith in our daily lives. He challenged us to be mindful of how we can reflect Christ in everything we do, even in the little moments, and that really stuck with me.
💥 Finally, we heard from Catherine Gavins, who shared some brilliant ideas on how we can be a light this Halloween. She gave us practical tips on how to reach out to our neighbours and show God’s love during this season.
It was such an encouraging and inspiring night, and I look forward to connecting with you all more as we continue to bring the light of Jesus to Sheffield together. Arise:Hallow runs from Sunday 20th October - Sunday 3rd November. To find out more, check out our website.

An invitation for the Arise Community...
This Halloween, we have an incredible opportunity to light up Sheffield in a dark season through Arise:Hallow. Our goal is to distribute thousands of trick-or-treat bags filled with Gospel messages, transforming our streets into places of hospitality and faith.
Last year, we witnessed an amazing response as £3,180 was raised to spread hope across Sheffield, supported by a generous Grant. This year, we face a challenge—we have not been successful in securing a grant to fund Arise:Hallow.
It's now up to us—the church of Sheffield—to step up and make it happen. If you would like to give towards Arise:Hallow, we invite you to visit our Go Fund Me to find out more.

Look out for your digital copy of the latest Arise magazine, full of inspiring stories of faith from across Sheffield like this one from Brett Seithel:
What has been your experience of sharing your faith at work?
“Before starting my job, I was given the advice to try and share your faith with colleagues within 24 hours of starting your role, otherwise, it can get more difficult. For me, this looks like having normal conversations, bringing up that you went to church when sharing weekend plans, and offering to pray for people. Sometimes people say yes out of politeness or are not interested, but others have really appreciated prayer and this has made a big difference.
“One of my colleagues is not a Christian, but her husband is. When she found out that I was a Christian, she had a lot of questions, from understanding the Bible, to the difference in denominations. One of the best things about our conversation was being able to communicate the grace of God, and that while Christians do not have all the answers, our foundation of faith is understanding God’s love and grace for all His children. By being open about my faith and willing to take time to speak with her, I was able to speak truth into her situation.”
